Lichfield Greenhill Bower

Spring Bank Holiday, Monday 25th May 2026

The Lichfield Greenhill Bower dates back to 1145 and is a community event every Whit Bank Holiday Monday which, in 2026, falls on 25th May.  As well as the traditional carnival procession through the streets of Lichfield, the Bower includes an event in Beacon Park with a selection of brilliantly entertaining activities to keep the whole family occupied.

We encourage local community groups, charities, schools and businesses to take part in the parade; whether that be decorating a float and entering it for a winning prize, or applying to help collect money in buckets for a grant for your charity or group.

Lichfield’s Beacon Park comes alive with lots for everyone to enjoy.  In 2026 we are repeating the free entry to Beacon Park that we introduced for the first time in 2025.  Wander through the park and indulge yourself in the colourful array of fairground attractions provided by Pat Collins Funfair, charity stalls, arts and crafts.  Kids will love the play areas and the chance for an ice-cream treat!

The procession starts at Cherry Orchard from 11:45am, stopping outside The Guildhall for the crowning of our Bower Monarch at noon. Finish is approximately 2pm.  Beacon Park is open from 11am until 5pm.
